Is Your Electrical Panel Safe
One of our most requested services is Electrical Panels Upgrades. Many older homes in Western Mass are built with panels that don’t meet today’s electrical standards. If you have a Federal Pacific panel for example, it really should be changed Immediately! Many of them are faulty and have been known to cause fires. Consulting with a licensed electrician is a must in these cases.
Inspecting your panel periodically is a great idea. If you see anything that looks unusual such as scorch marks or corrosion then it might be time for a new panel. Other reasons for changing or upgrading include:
- Existing Fuse Box or cheap builder-grade panels
- Addition of Electronics or Home Theaters
- Additional Living Space
- The Addition of Central Air Conditioning
- Adding a Pool or Hot-Tub
- Circuit Overloads
- Electrical Panel sizes are 100, 150, 200, and 400 amps. The most common residential upgrade is from 100 to 200 amp panels.
Conversely, panels don’t always need to be upgraded. Many times there is just an overload of certain circuits and a little rearranging is all that needs to be done.
When it comes time to upgrade, K. Sacco Electric handles everything from permits to inspection. Our services include:
- Service Upgrades
- Meter Base Repairs
- Meter Base Replacements
- Service Mast Repairs
- Replace Weather Head
- New Grounding Systems
- Whole House Surge Protection Devices
- Label Household Circuits on Existing Panels
- Sub Panels
